One thing urgently needed to be reconsidered as Thailand is welcoming its new Constitution is the use of the term "core curriculum" for basic education prescribed for schools by the Basic Education Commission, written in Section 27 of the recent National Education Act of B.E. 2542 (1999). The term was misleading and problematic, It resulted in the issue of an official document wrongly referred to as Basic Education Curriculum B.E. 2544, which is fact was a list of "subject standard" or "content standard". Consenquently following the prescribed document, most shcools were not familiar with constructing their own curricula.
