The acceleration in the pace of globalization of markets that changes the roles of manufacturing has ushered in an increasing number of initiatives aimed at improving operations. Specifically, various temes in operations have evolved over time, from forecasting and planning to adaptability and responsiveness. Customers demand products with lower prices, higher quality, and faster delivery-but more customized too to match their unique need. The key factors to competing in a global market are quality, flexibility, responsiveness and customer service. This means that companies or manufacturers must be able to give customer what they want, when they want it, at a cost they are prepared to pay. The emphasis on greater product variety and individualization has created a strong demand for a new strategy of mass customization, which has been addressed as the next Industrial Revolution in the 〖21〗^st century. Mass Customization, a rapidly becoming strategy of choice for many companies, is designed to specifically respond to two inherently contradictory competitive priorities-low price and high-customization.
