This research was aimed to evaluate the master of education program in Mathematics Education, Faculty of Education, Chiang Mai University. The evaluation of the program focused on the objectives, the course outline and contents, instructional process, and reaching – learning measurement and devaluation. The population was 36 masters of education graduates and 6 instructors. The two questionnaires were used as the instruments for collecting data. The obtained data were analyzed by means of percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The research findings were as follows:
1.The program objectives were clear, and appropriate. Moreover, they covered the cognitive and psychomotor domains, and met the rationale and main goals of the program.
2. The course outline and contents which consisted of 40credits were found to be adequate. The course out of the fields of specialization and thesis/independent study were appropriate. Those in the requires courses, and could bring then into use in classroom activities, professional development, further studies, and other careers. The contents of three courses overlapped rich one another. Those in other courses were interesting, up-to-date, and had appropriateness in the number of credits, periods, teaching-learning organization, and measurement and evaluation.
3. In the instructional process, the instructors of all courses organization teaching – learning activities; for example, giving the course orientation, distributing the course outline handouts, informing the instructional objectives, contents, teaching-learning procedures, criteria, and measurement and evaluation. The classroom activities which were much practiced were classroom and group discussion, independent study, and individual assignment.
4. The teaching-learning measurement and evaluation was found to be appropriate. The evaluation was divided into two parts: formative, and summative. The instructors could set the way and criteria of measurement and evaluation of the thesis/independent study by themselves.
